HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese midfielder Lương Xuân Trường, who attended Hoàng Anh Gia Lai (HAGL)-Arsenal JMG Academy, will compete for Gangwon FC, of South Korea’s K-League Classic, after ending a two-year-loan deal with Incheon United FC.
A representative of HAGL, Nguyễn Tấn Anh, confirmed the news and said Trường officially terminated his contract with Incheon FC.
On December 28 2015, Xuân Trường joined Incheon United FC on a two-year deal with an alleged transfer fee of US$300,000. He became the first Vietnamese player to play in the K-League.
The compensation for the remainder of Trường’s deal with Incheon United will be paid by Gangwon.
Gangwon are now led by former head coach Choi Yoon-gyun of HAGL.
This will be a great chance for Trường as Choi used to coach HAGL so he is well acquainted with Trường’s ability.
According to Anh, Gangwon FC have also pledged to give Trường more time on the pitch.
Trường was called up to the national U19 team in 2013-14, the U23 team in 2015 and Việt Nam’s national team in 2016.
In addition to Trường, Gangwon also recruited striker Jung Jo-gook who was selected as the most valuable player of K-League in 2016. — VNS
