Vietnamese dominate women’s categories in Bangladesh event

HÀ NỘI — Badminton player Vũ Thị Trang will play Nguyễn Thùy Linh in the all-Vietnamese women’s singles final at the Yonex Sunrise Bangladesh International Challenge today.

Trang, No 1 seed, yesterday came from behind to beat No 3 Rituparna Das of India 17-21, 21-19, 21-9 in the first semi-final match.

No 4 Linh, meanwhile, defeated her country-fellow Nguyễn Thị Sen 21-15, 21-14 in the second match.

Trang, pairing with Sen, also earned her berth in the women’s doubles final match after beating Arathi Sar Sunil and Sanjana Santosh 21-19, 21-19. Jakkampudi Meghana and Ram Poorvisha, their rivals in the final, are also from India, and are seeded No 3. — VNS
