HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese gymnasts won two gold medals at the Szombathely World Challenge Cup 2016 in Hungary on Sunday.
Nguyễn Tuấn Đạt brought home a gold medal in the men’s vault with 14.899 points.
In the qualifying round, Đạt ranked second with 14.750 points, behind Polish Lukasz Borkowski with 14.775.
25-year-old Đạt was the first Vietnamese gymnast to have a move named after him by the International Gymnastics Federation. At the 2013 World Championships, Đạt and Kenzo Shirai of Japan successfully performed a quadruple full twist on the floor which was named the “Shirai-Nguyễn” move.
Another Vietnamese gymnast, Đinh Phương Thành won gold in the men’s parallel bars. He won both the preliminary round and the finals with 15.300 and 15.500 points, respectively.
Earlier, Đặng Nam took bronze in the men’s rings with 15.033 points. — VNS
