HÀ NỘI — The national futsal squad arrived home yesterday and received a bonus of VNĐ1.5 billion (US$66,700) for their effort at the ongoing World Cup in Colombia.

Việt Nam Football Federation officials and several supporters welcomed the team at the Nội Bài International Airport.

Việt Nam were eliminated in the round of 16 earlier this week, but it was a better result than expected for the team, who only made their debut at this event.

Việt Nam were the underdogs in Group C, which also had powerhouses Paraguay and Italy. They won one and lost two games to enter the knock-out stage where they were defeated 0-7 by Russia. — VNS
