Nam win first doubles match in tennis tourney

Việt Nam’s No. 3 seed Lý Hoàng Nam and Bowen Ouyang qualified for the second round of the Việt Nam Men’s Future F4 tennis event on Monday in the Bình Dương Province.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s No. 3 seed Lý Hoàng Nam and Bowen Ouyang of China qualified for the second round of the Việt Nam Men’s Future F4 tennis event on Monday in the Bình Dương Province.

They defeated Lee Dae-hee and Choi Seungri 6-3, 6-4 to set for a second match against Joel Cannell and Vikram Hundal in the men’s doubles event.

Nguyễn Văn Phương and Trịnh Linh Giang won their first match as the host duo defeated Sagar Ahuja and Kelsey Stevenson 6-4, 6-4.

They will next play No 2 seed Shintaro Imai and Yuichi Ito, who trounced Marco Gronimo and Hao Yuan Ng 6-1, 6-3 on Monday.

Another Vietnamese pair Huỳnh Minh Hùng and Lê Công Tiễn beat Rio Noguchi and Daisuke Sumizama 2-6, 6-4, 11-9 to see Yusuke Takahashi and Renta Tokuda in the second round.

Meanwhile, Vũ Artem and Trần Văn Hòa were ousted from the tournament. They lost 1-6, 2-6 to Kang Hogi and Oh Chan-yeong. The singles event will kick off today.

Top national player Hoàng Nam will play Shinta Fujii of Japan. Linh Giang will meet Choi Seungri. Văn Phương will play against No. 5 seed Bowen Ouyang. — VNS
