HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội 1 are back at the top after Round 12 matches of the National Women’s Football Championship yesterday in HCM City.
Last year’s runners-up, without key midfielder Nguyễn Thị Muôn, who received a red card in the previous round, defeated Việt Nam Coal and Minerals 2-0 just as they had done in the first leg match some four months ago.
Nguyễn Thị Hòa opened the score from a close-range finish in the 32nd minute. Vũ Thị Nhung made it 2-0 in the second half after a straight shot.
The Coal had their chances to narrow the result but Lê Thị Thương and Hoài Thu failed to beat goalkeeper Thùy Dương.
With 32 points, Hà Nội 1 lead the tournament with two points more than runners-up Phong Phú Hà Nam.
The Coals are at fifth with 16 points.
In the later match yesterday, HCM City 2 drew 0-0 against Hà Nội 2.
In the next fixture on Thursday, the Coals will see Sơn La and HCM City 2 will meet TNG Thái Nguyên at the Thống Nhất Stadium. — VNS
