Duẩn wins 6th stage of VTV international cycling race

HCM CITY — Lê Văn Duẩn of VUS HCM City team won the sixth stage of the VTV International Cycling Tournament for the Tôn Hoa Sen Cup in a time of 3:39.04 hours yesterday.

The stage started at HCM City Square in Nghệ An and finished in Thanh Hóa, a distance of 142km, making it arguably the hardest stage of the race.

The organisers said Duẩn won by conserving his energy in previous stages and thus remaining fresher than his opponents.

He was followed by Nguyễn Tấn Hoài of Dược Domesco Đồng Tháp and Võ Phú Trung of Hạt Ngọc Trời.

After six stages, Võ Phú Trung of Hạt Ngọc Trời is the race leader. In the team standings, Dược Domesco Đồng Tháp and Hạt Ngọc Trời are in first and second places.

Today the 133km seventh stage starts in Thanh Hoá and the riders go through Ninh Bình and Hà Nam to finish in Nam Định.

The race, from Đà Nẵng to Hà Nội, is scheduled to end on September 2, National Day. — VNS
