HÀ NỘI — Lý Hoàng Nam eased into the final of the National Tennis Championship yesterday in Đà Nẵng City when his rival Trương Thanh Giang retired.
Nam of Becamex Bình Dương raced through the semi-final’s first set with a 6-1 win. When the second set started Giang of HCM City asked to withdraw as he was exhausted.
The hot weather also strongly affected Nguyễn Đắc Tiến of Hà Nội as he also could not finish his match against Hoàng Thành Trung of Police in the other semis. Tiến retired when it was 6-7 (4), 7-5, 5-1 for him because of cramps.
Nam will play Trung in the final today.
The men’s doubles final will see Nam in pair with teammate Nguyễn Văn Phương will play Giang Thanh and Quốc Khánh of HCM City.
The women’s final will see defending champion Trần Thị Tâm Hảo versus Phan Thị Thanh Bình of the host.
Thanh Bình and Đan Thi won the women’s doubles beating Thanh Trúc and Bội Ngọc of HCM City 6-1, 6-2.
Quốc Khánh and Tâm Hảo took the mixed doubles gold medal after defeating 6-3, 2-6, 10-5 Thanh Hoàng and Kim Ngân of the Military. — VNS
