HÀ NỘI — Apart from athletes and officials, Việt Nam also has a referee working at the ongoing Rio Olympic Games.

Boxing referee Vương Trọng Nghĩa is taking part in his second Olympics.

Nghĩa is one of 34 referees, seven of whom are from Asia, chosen by the International Boxing Association (AIBA), after taking part in a strict selection process prior to the competition.

AIBA asked some 300, among more than 1.500 certificated referees, to take part in their selection. They had to participate in a training course to improve their physiques and knowledge, before a final 34 referees were chosen.
