HÀ NỘI — Duo Lý Hoàng Nam and Nguyễn Hoàng Thiên advanced to the quarter-final round of the Vietnam F3 Men’s Futures tennis tournament yesterday in Bình Dương Province.
The Vietnamese pair won 6-4, 6-0 over Daniel Kossek and Maciej Smola, a wildcard duo from Poland.
Their next rival will be the winner of the match between No 1 Takuto Niki and Arata Onozawa of Japan and Jacob Grills and Jonathan Kanar, a mix of Australia and France.
Another host pair, Huỳnh Minh Huy and Trịnh Linh Giang, will meet Hong Seong-chan and Li Zhao-tai.
Nam, Việt Nam’s top-ranked player, will launch his campaign in the singles event today against No 5 seed Chung Yunseong of South Korea.
Nam has reached a new point in his career, jumping nine steps to world No 862, the highest ranking for him and Việt Nam.
Thiên will play No 4 Huang Liang-chi of Taipei.
