HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam will face the Philippines in the second round match of the Southeast Asian Women’s Football Championship today in Mandalay, Myanmar.
A second win at the group stage will ensure coach Mai Đức Chung and his team a berth in the next round after they defeated Singapore 14-0 on Tuesday.
Despite a huge victory, Chung was not completely satisfied with what his players had accomplished.
“They still committed simple mistakes and made wrong passes in the match (against Singapore). If they could bring into play all chances, the result could have been 18-0,” Chung said.
Chung and his assistants have watched the Filipino players in a match against Thailand. He said both of them held some mysteries and Việt Nam had to try hard in every game and score as many goals as possible to have the best goal difference.
“The Philippines are definitely stronger than Singapore, and we need a different tactic against them," he said. — VNS
