HÀ NỘI — Doubles pair Lý Hoàng Nam and Nguyễn Hoàng Thiên secured a berth in the next round of the Vietnam F1 Men’s Futures yesterday in Bình Dương Province.
The Vietnamese duo defeated Chiu Yu Hsiang and Yamasaki Jumpei 6-2, 6-3 in the first round which was delayed on Tuesday because of rain.
They will next play the French No 2 seeds Antoine Escoffier-Jonathan Kanar in the quarter-finals.
Two pairs from Việt Nam failed to progress.
Trịnh Linh Giang and Vu Artem lost 6-7 (5), 5-7 to No 1 seeds Jake Delaney and Darren Polkinghorne, both of Australia.
Huỳnh Minh Huy and Lê Quốc Khánh were defeated 1-6, 3-6 by Japanese No 3 seeds Shintaro Imai and Kento Takeuchi.
Nam is the only Vietnamese still in the men’s singles and has his second round match against No 1 seed Seon Chan Hong of South Korea today. — VNS
