HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam will play Malaysia in the first match of the Southeast Asian Junior Women’s Volleyball Championship on July 16 in Thailand.

The tournament has drawn eight teams in two groups. Việt Nam is in Group B together with Indonesia, Australia and Malaysia.

The Group B has the Philippines, New Zealand, Singapore and the hosts.

Vietnamese players, many of whom were outstanding at the recent national championship for youths, started training for the tournament in early June under Japanese coach Shuto Koichi.

After Malaysia, they will play Indonesia on Sunday and Australia a day later.

After the regional event which ends on July 20, Việt Nam will take part in the Asian U-19 Volleyball Championship from July 23 to July 31 at the same venue. — VNS
