Runners raised VNĐ500 million (US$22,200) for underprivileged people and Agent Orange victims during the “Run for a Clean-Green-Beautiful Life”, which was held yesterday at Hoàn Kiếm Lake in Hà Nội.

The event was organised by VNews, the Vietnam News Agency’s Television Centre, in co-operation with Amway Việt Nam’s BodyKey brand.

Organisers donated one-fifth of the funds to VNA’s Fund for Agent Orange Pain, and the rest will be donated to the central region’s underprivileged residents.

Amway also pledged VNĐ1.3 billion ($57,800) to support the National Institute of Nutrition in its efforts to improve child health.

The run, which attracted more than 3,500 amateur athletes despite the rain, also celebrated the annual International Mother Earth Day on April 22 and encouraged citizens to take part in sports for improved health. – VNS
