HÀ NỘI — Badminton start Vũ Thị Trang has won two titles in two weeks during her tour to Europe.
The former Vietnamese No 1 defeated Hristomira Popovska of Bulgaria 21-6, 21-14 in the women's singles final of the Future Series Nouvelle-Aquitaine 2026 which ended on July 5 in France.
As the No 1 seed of the tournament, Trang, world No 98, met no difficulty to set her pace over world No 167 Popovska and quickly wrapped up the match within 40 minutes at the Salle Bellegrave in Pessac.
Earlier, she made up a perfect route to the final with a unbeaten record.
Trang beat Carla Martinez of the hosts 21-9, 22-20 and Indian Ananya Agrawal 21-10, 21-14 in the first two rounds. She overcame Ines Villard 21-12, 21-7 in the quarter-finals before defeating Mariia Stoliarenko of Ukraine 21-11, 21-14 in the semi-finals.
In late June, Trang topped the podium of the International Future Series 2026 in Czech Republic.
The 34-year-old veteran beat Ratu Azzahra of UAE 21/19, 15/21, 21/16 to take her first international gold of the year.
Trang next tournament will be the world championships which will be held in August in India. — VNS
