HÀ NỘI -- Vietnamese athletes will compete in the Hong Kong Athletics Championships, their first international of the year, from May 4-6.

The team gathers SEA Games' multi-time champion Nguyễn Thị Oanh, former SEA Games 100m hurdles winner Bùi Thị Nguyên, national long jump champion Hoàng Thanh Giang and SEA Games bronze medallist Bùi Thị Loan who will compete in the long jump and triple jump.

Among them, Oanh has the most medal potential as her results in the women's 1,500m and 3,000m steeplechase are close to Asia's top three.

"The tournament will help me to improve my ability ahead of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in November," said Oanh.

Oanh and teammates arrive in Hong Kong on May 2 and they will have two days to practise ahead of their competitions at the Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground. VNS
