HẢI PHÒNG — Đoàn Uy won the first leg tournament of the VGA Junior Tour 2024 on March 3 in Hải Phòng.
Uy earned a cumulative score of 3-under 213 after three rounds to take the top ranking of the boys' U18 and the overall at Vinpearl Golf Hải Phòng.
It was the second time that Uy secured a title on the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA) Junior Tour.
Uy currently places No. 787 in the world amateur ranking. His position will be lifted after this victory.
Lê Minh Nghĩa, also U18, and Phạm Đăng Long, who won in the boys U15 class, came second second and third, respectively, with the same score of 9-over 222.
Other winners of the competition included Nguyễn Ngô Minh Uyên (girls U18), Nguyễn Quang Đại (boys' U13), Nguyễn Viết Gia Hân (girls' U13), Sisovic Sasha (U11) and Nguyễn Thái Sơn (U9).
In addition to the champions, organisers also presented awards to three golfers -- Nguyễn Bảo Châu and Nguyễn Phương Quỳnh (U13), and Nguyễn Phúc Anh (U9) who scored an eagle during two days of the tournament.
The VGA Junior Tour 2024's second leg will be held at the West Lakes Golf & Villas in Long An Province in early April. VNS
