 HÀ NỘI — The second Press Marathon will see the participation of almost 500 runners on June 25 in Hà Nội.

The tournament is being held to celebrate the 98th anniversary of National Revolutionary Press Day on June 21.

The marathon will be held at Yên Sở Park in Hoàng Mai District. Competitors will run in the 5km, 10km and 21.6km events, with the latter being added this year.

Marathon runners will compete for cash prizes and gifts worth close to VNĐ100 million in two divisions for reporters and businessmen.

According to the event organisers, the tournament aims to spread the spirit of sportsmanship and promote a healthy lifestyle for reporters.

There are 14 reporters running from publications of the Vietnam News Agency.

The tournament is hosted by the Vietnam ICT Press Club and organised by Race Jungle, which is known for organising events around the country such as the Discovery Marathons in Hà Giang, Quảng Bình and Hội An; the Hà Nội Ultra Trail; the Mẫu Sơn and Cúc Phương Jungle Paths and the Family Ekiden and Kizuna Ekiden.

As many as 200 runners took part in the tournament last year.

The winners of the men's and women's 13.3km classes were Nguyễn Cáp Chiến of CMC Corp and Nguyễn Thu Hường of FPT Corp, respectively.

Nguyễn Hoàng Cương of FPT Corp and Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Tú of Tiền Phong Newspaper won the men's and women's 6.6km, respectively. VNS
