HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam have successfully defended their title at the Asian Beach Handball Championship on March 17 in Bali, Indonesia.
The Vietnamese women won all five of their matches so far to win the tournament with a game to spare.
They also secured their place at the 2024 World Beach Handball Championship and the 2023 Asian Beach Games.
Joining the March 10-19 tournament, Việt Nam faced Hong Kong, the Philippines and the hosts in a two-leg round robin format group on their way to maintaining as their status as Asia’s No 1.
They beat Hong Kong and the Philippines in both matches with the same score of 2-0.
Việt Nam also beat Indonesia 2-0 in the first match. The second and last match against will be on March 18.
On the men's side, Việt Nam lost 2-0 to Qatar in the semi-final match and were ousted from the race to the gold.
They will vie for the bronze against Iran, who were defeated by Oman in the other semis.
