HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam came from behind to rout South Korea 5-1 in their opening Group D game at the 2022 AFC Futsal Asian Cup in Kuwait on Wednesday evening.

Việt Nam conceded in the first minute, but coach Diego Giustozzi's players quickly regained control of the game and went into the break 3-1 ahead.

Việt Nam scored twice after the break, finishing the game 5-1 winners.

After the match, coach Giustozzi said he was satisfied with the performance of his players.

"I am satisfied with the performance of the players. The first match is always difficult and this was not an easy victory. However, my players defended and attacked very well. I'm happy that the team won, and I'm pleased with how they performed," Giustozzi said.

However, the coach still pointed out the points Việt Nam needs to improve in the upcoming matches.

"Every match will be a completely different fight. Saudi Arabia have a different style from South Korea. We will face a completely different team. However, what is important is how we present it. We will improve on the weaknesses and aim for the next victory," Giustozzi said.

Việt Nam will meet Saudi Arabia on September 30 and Japan on October 2 during the group stage.
