Việt Nam reports 187 new cases on Monday, bringing national tally to 5,404

Việt Nam reported 187 new COVID-19 cases on Monday including 184 local cases – the second-biggest increase in a single day in the fourth wave of COVID-19 in the country.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam reported 187 new COVID-19 cases on Monday including 184 local cases – the second-biggest increase in a single day in the fourth wave of COVID-19 in the country.

The three imported cases were quarantined upon their arrival in Hà Nội.

Of the local cases, 105 are in Bắc Giang Province, 38 in Bắc Ninh Province, 21 in Hà Nội, 11 in Lạng Sơn Province, five in Hải Dương Province, two in Điện Biên Province, one in Đà Nẵng and one in HCM City.

On Monday evening alone, Hà Nội reports 13, Bắc Giang 44, Bắc Ninh 31, Lạng Sơn 6, and one in HCM City.

Việt Nam has reported a total of 3,918 local cases and 1,486 imported cases. Of them, 2,348 have been reported since April 28.

In Hà Nội, 12 of the new cases had close contact with previous confirmed COVID-19 cases while one was detected in a locked-down area.

Regarding the development of COVID-19 in the city, the Secretariat of Hà Nội Party’s Committee Đinh Tiến Dũng on Monday afternoon dismissed rumours of a city-wide lockdown at this time.

He said that the city authorities are implementing disease prevention and control measures well.

“Specific areas where COVID-19 cases are reported are blocked,” he said, calling people to stay calm and co-operate with authorities in implementing the measures, particularly in identifying those who had contact with confirmed cases.

Three of the cases in Lạng Sơn are related to Quang Châu Industrial Park in the northern province of Bắc Giang.

The new case in HCM City is a two-year-old boy who is the son of patient 4,780 in Tân Bình District.

Among the new cases in Bắc Ninh, 27 had close contact with previously confirmed cases, three other cases were detected in locked-down areas and for one case the source of infection has not been identified.

Forty-four cases in Bắc Giang Province are in locked-down areas relating to the Quang Châu Industrial Park cluster.

On Monday, 73 people were given the all-clear, bringing the total number of recoveries in Việt Nam to 2,794.

Việt Nam also reported two deaths relating to COVId-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of fatalities to 44. VNS
