HÀ NỘI — Preparations for the upcoming elections have been carried out across the country in line with laws and in a timely manner, said National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân while chairing the fourth meeting of the National Election Council (NEC) in Hà Nội on Monday.
Inspectors from five inspection teams of the NEC found that all localities have taken full responsibility and carried out preparation works as guided, she said.
Ngân asked for stronger communications about the election of deputies to the 15th NA and People’s Councils at all levels on mass media.
At the meeting, participants discussed some key contents, including building scenarios for COVID-19 prevention and control and ensuring food safety and hygiene during the elections and organising voting for those in centralised quarantine areas.
Chairwoman Ngân said it was also necessary to account for the possibility of natural disasters in May when voting is held and all scenarios must be studied carefully.
She also asked for more attention to guiding the establishment of election teams and election training as well as dealing with denunciations and complaints related to the elections.
NA General Secretary, Chairman of the NA Office and head of the NEC Office Nguyễn Hạnh Phúc reported that the NEC has so far received dossiers of 1,136 nominated candidates to the NA and for 7,495 nominated candidates to the all-level People’s Councils. — VNS
