Boat sinks near Côn Đảo, seven fishermen rescued, seven others still missing

Rescue forces are searching for seven fishermen who have been missing in waters off Côn Đảo since Monday morning after their boat sank 50 nautical miles off the island.

BÀ RỊA-VŨNG TÀU - Rescue forces are searching for seven fishermen who have been missing in waters off Côn Đảo since Monday morning after their boat sank 50 nautical miles off the island.

According to the Coast Guard Zone 3 High Command based in the southern city of Vũng Tàu, a fishing boat from the southern province of Bến Tre sank in waters near Côn Đảo early on Monday morning when there were 14 fishermen on board.

Five of the 14 fishermen were rescued soon after the accident by other fishing boats working nearby while two others were rescued by coast guards on Monday night.

Bad weather at sea has posed difficulties for the rescue forces, according to the coast guards who reached the area where the boat sank. VNS
