HÀ NỘI — Twelve new imported COVID-19 cases were recorded in Việt Nam on Wednesday evening, raising the country’s total number of infections to 1,300, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control has announced.

All the patients are Vietnamese. They were quarantined upon arrival in central Khánh Hoà Province, HCM City and northern Hải Dương Province.

Patients 1289 and 1290, aged 21 and 41, arrived on November 11 at Cam Ranh Airport in Khánh Hoà from Russia on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5062.

They tested positive for the SAR-CoV-2 virus on their third tests on Tuesday. They are being treated at Cam Ranh General Hospital. 

Patients 1291-1296, aged between 19 and 42, are being treated at the Củ Chi Field Hospital in HCM City. The six patients returned from Germany after transiting via Romania on Vietnam Airlines flight VN82 at Tân Sơn Nhất International Hospital on November 8.  

They were quarantined at the Củ Chi Field Hospital on arrival and the test results of their samples returned positive on Tuesday.

The other four patients returned from Canada on Vietnam Airlines flight VN5028 to Vân Đồn Airport in northern Quảng Ninh Province. Patients 1297-1300 were quarantined in northern Hải Dương Province and tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. 

They are now treated at Hải Dương Province’s Hospital of Tropical Diseases.

The 12 new patients take the national COVID-19 tally to 1,300. Of the total, 691 were locally transmitted cases, including 551 cases linked to the outbreak in the central city of Đà Nẵng that began on July 25. — VNS
