HÀ NỘI — For nearly one month, people in the central region have suffered heavy losses in lives and property due to prolonged and intense natural disasters, including typhoons, flooding and landslides. As typhoon No. 8 weakened, typhoon No. 9 made landfall, causing serious damage. Local residents are facing danger from the natural disasters and shortages of basic necessities such as food and clean water, in addition to concerns about recovering after the flooding.
To provide immediate support, the company has earmarked a part of the support fund (about VNĐ1.5 billion), including cash and nutritional products such as milk, soy milk and condensed milk for victims.

More than 111,000 nutritional products have been given to people in seven provinces of Quảng Trị, Thừa Thiên Huế, Bình Định, Quảng Nam, Đà Nẵng, Quảng Bình and Hà Tĩnh through the programme “Towards the Central region” organised by the HCMC Women's Newspaper. Cash grants and nutritional products will continue to be delivered to victims in the flood areas.
As the floods and storms pass, residents will face many difficulties caused by the natural disasters. Therefore, Vinamilk will coordinate with local authorities to survey the affected areas to determine the needs of each place and the beneficiaries. From the survey results, Vinamilk will build appropriate support methods and plans to help victims recover and gradually stabilise their lives.
Chairman of the Trade Union of Vinamilk Nguyễn Trung said people in central Việt Nam have faced many difficulties this year as they suffer from the double impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters, consecutive typhoons and floods.
“With the tradition of mutual affection, Vinamilk employees unanimously deducted a working day's salary to share difficulties with the victims, encouraging everyone to overcome such difficulties,” Trung said.
“Hopefully the difficulties will pass soon and people in the central region will soon return to their normal lives,” he said.
