HÀ NỘI — A 30-year-old woman who gave birth to a son while she was treated with COVID-19 was declared virus-free on Friday.

She hails from the northern province of Phú Thọ and returned on a repatriation flight from Russia in July.

Her son weighed 3.8kg when he was born on September 10 at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hà Nội but remains isolated from his mother after she tested positive for COVID-19.

Việt Nam has now gone 44 days without any community infections.
