HÀ NỘI — Two new COVID-19 cases, one imported and one locally-transmitted, were confirmed in Việt Nam on Friday evening while 26 people were declared recovered, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.
With the two latest cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Việt Nam is 1,038, including 698 locally transmitted infections. A total of 549 cases have been linked to the disease resurgence in Đà Nẵng City since July 25.
Patient 1,037, a 29-year-old woman, of Đà Nẵng City’s Sơn Trà District, had contact with Patient 1,036. She tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on Thursday.
Patient 1,038, a 23-year-old man, returned from Russia to Vân Đồn International Airport on August 11 on flight VN5062. He was taken to a quarantine area in the northern province of Hải Dương upon arrival. In the quarantine area, he shared a room with Patient 1,034. After completing quarantine time, he stayed at a rented house in Hàng Bài Street in Hà Nội’s Hoàn Kiếm District.
On August 25, the district took his sample and sent him to quarantine area at Hà Nội Hi-tech Vocational College in Nam Từ Liêm District. He was confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2 on August 27. He is being treated at National Hospital for Tropical Diseases’ branch 2 in Đông Anh District.
A total of 69,485 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or came from pandemic-hit areas are under quarantine nationwide.
The committee’s treatment sub-committee reported 663 patients have been given the all-clear, while the death toll is at 30.
Among active patients, 46 have tested negative for the coronavirus once, 48 twice and 29 three times.
Twenty-three COVID-19 patients in Đà Nẵng City were given the all-clear on Friday afternoon after they tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 from three to five times.
All the patients will undertake another 14-day quarantine at home for further health monitoring.
So far, 187 patients in Đà Nẵng City have been given the all-clear. — VNS
