One new COVID-19 infection confirmed on Saturday

One new case of COVID-19 was reported in Việt Nam on Saturday evening, bringing the total number of infections nationwide to 334.

HÀ NỘI — One new case of COVID-19 was reported in Việt Nam on Saturday evening, bringing the total number of infections nationwide to 334.

The latest patient is a 29-year-old Vietnamese man who returned to the country from China on May 31st.

He entered Việt Nam via Móng Cái international border gate in Quảng Ninh Province and was immediately quarantined.

His first test on May 31 was negative for SARS-CoV-2 but he then tested positive on Thursday (June 11).

He is being treated at National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Hà Nội’s Đông Anh District.

Việt Nam has now not had a community transmission for 58 consecutive days.

Of the 334 cases confirmed so far, 194 are imported and were quarantined on arrival, posing no risks to the community.

Of the 11 active patients, three have tested negative for the coronavirus once and one at least twice.

Some 6,475 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or came from pandemic-hit areas are currently under quarantine across the country. — VNS
