HÀ NỘI — Police in Hà Nội discovered a Chinese man stockpiling face masks manufactured in Việt Nam for consumption in China, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Police on Sunday inspected Việt Phú Development Trading Co., Ltd located in Hà Đông District’s Văn Phú urban area and found the company allowing the man named Guo Calilin to store 1,000 face masks, Sài Gòn Giải Phóng (Sài Gòn Liberation) online newspaper reported.

Guo Calilin said he bought these masks in Việt Nam for consumption in China.

The police seized all the masks as the suspect could not produce legal documents for the masks.

Hà Nội police also inspected local medical supply stores suspected of inflating the price of face masks.

On Sunday, border guards in Quảng Ninh Province’s Móng Cái City caught a man illegal transporting 40,000 face masks across the border. — VNS
