HÀ NỘI — A large-scale fake medicine producing ring has been smashed.

The Police Department for Corruption, Smuggling and Economic Crimes under the Hà Nội Police last Thursday caught Lý Thị Thùy Linh, 29, transporting 200 bottles of medicine labelled Pharcoter and 20 bottles of food supplement.

Linh, who is from the northern mountainous province of Lào Cai, failed to show any paperwork relating to the medicine’s origin.

She admitted to police that she was hired to transport the medicine by Lý Mạnh Thông, 32.

Searching Thông’s house in Hoàng Mai District in Hà Nội, the police seized more than 5,400 bottles of fake medicines labeled under different kinds trademarks.

The fake medicines weighed more than two tonnes.

Thông told the police that he had bought them from many sources in different provinces and cities.
