At a ceremony on Sunday the Chairman of the NA’s Legislative Department, Nguyễn Khắc Định, released details of the resolution related to the adjustment of administrative boundaries of a number of administrative units at commune level for establishing the city in the southern province.

It will spread over an area of 191 square kilometres and have a population of over 171,000 and 15 administrative units.

At the ceremony, provincial authorities also announced upgrades to five communes in the city, Suối Tre, Xuân Lập, Xuân Tân, Bảo Vinh, and Bàu Sen.

“The city authorities will make every effort to exploit [its] potential to fully and sustainably develop [it],” Hồ Văn Nam, chairman of Long Khánh City People’s Committee, said.

He said much effort would be made to develop infrastructure, alleviate poverty and provide training to develop high-quality human resources.

As Long Khánh is situated in the Southern Focal Economic Zone, with an expressway and a national highway running through it, it is expected to become an industrial, commercial and logistics hub.
