41 people die in traffic accidents during holiday

The country witnessed 64 traffic accidents that killed 41 people and injured a further 42 during the two-day national holiday to mark Hùng Kings Day over the weekend.

 

 

An accident occurred at about 6am yesterday when four automobile crashed into each other on the Cầu Giẽ-Ninh Bình Highway in Yên Bằng Commune, Ý Yên District in the northern province of Nam Định. No casualties were reported, but passengers were in a state of shock. Four automobiles, including two coaches, one lorry and one ambulance were seriously damaged. HÀ NỘI — The country witnessed 64 traffic accidents that killed 41 people and injured a further 42 during the two-day national holiday to mark Hùng Kings Day over the weekend.

The Ministry of Public Security said traffic police fined more than 4,800 drivers a total of nearly VNĐ4.3 billion (US$186,900), and temporarily seized 24 automobiles, 554 motorbikes and 615 driving licences.

Waterway police fined more than 300 violators a total of VNĐ321 million ($13,900). — VNS
