HÀ NỘI — Siemens Vietnam has installed its modern traffic control technology at the Phạm Hùng-Mễ Trì intersection in Hà Nội.

The joint project between the company and Hà Nội People’s Committee, departments of transport and traffic police and other companies aims to improve traffic conditions of the city.

The new technology helps reduce power consumption of roughly 70 per cent and ensure traffic lights are operating correctly, determines the length of the green and red times and takes care of the safe operation of the intersection, according to the company.

The installation replaced the existing signal heads with Siemens low-power signal heads.

Siemens is currently running this intersection as a pilot project to prepare for the next step of video-based traffic detection.

With this technology, traffic is detected and traffic light timings adjusted accordingly throughout the city to allow best possible traffic flow.

“This is the answer to the increasing demand of traffic management and environmental protection for the citizens,” said Dr Phạm Thái Lai, president and CEO of Siemens Vietnam. — VNS
