HÀ NỘI — Ten outstanding young Hanoians were honoured in a ceremony held on Tuesday at the Lý Thái Tổ Statue in Hoàn Kiếm District.
This is the 10th year the Hà Nội’s Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union has honoured outstanding young people who have recorded special achievements.
Footballer Nguyễn Quang Hải, 21, member of Hà Nội Football Club, was one of the 10. He won the Golden Ball in 2018 and the best footballer of the AFF Cup Championship.
Another athlete that was honoured was weightlifter Lại Gia Thành, 20, from the Hà Nội Sport and Physical Training and Competition Centre. He won several gold and silver medals at world, Asian and national championships.
In studying and scientific research, Phan Ngọc Huyền, 35, senior lecturer of the History Faculty of the Hà Nội National University of Education was recongised, for becoming the university’s youngest associate professor in 2018.
One more brilliant face is Trần Bảo Duy, 12, a student of the Hà Nội Star Primary and Junior Secondary School in Thanh Xuân District. He won several gold medals in maths at different Olympiad competitions at the world and Asian level.
Phạm Đức Anh, 19, a first-year student of the Hà Nội Medical University, received the third class Labour Medal and certificates of merit from Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, from Minister of Education and Training Phùng Xuân Nhạ and from the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union. He won gold medals at the International Chemistry Olympiads 2017 and 2018.
In national defence and security, major Lê Trọng Hiếu, 35, head of the Police Department for the Investigation of Social Order under Đống Đa District Police, was honoured for his achievements in the cause of protecting the nation. He received certificates of merit from the Minister of Public Security Tô Lâm for his excellent contribution in the movement of ‘For the national security’ in 2016-17.
A good example in economic development, Đặng Xuân Trường, 28, director of the Hachi Hi-tech Agriculture Company, attended the global summit in Hydrabad in India.
His company is recognised as the best in northern area for setting up farms and planting clean vegetables with high-tech methods.
Speaking at the honour ceremony, deputy secretary of the Hà Nội Party Committee Đào Đức Toàn, expressed his belief that young people of the capital would uphold their strength and ambition.
Toàn asked municipal authorities at different levels to continue paying more heed to young people. — VNS
