Four killed in Long An traffic accident

Four people were killed in a road accident in the southern province of Long An on Wednesday.

LONG AN — Four people were killed in a road accident in the southern province of Long An on Wednesday.

A container truck hit 21 motorbikes waiting at a red light at Bình Nhật junction in Bến Lức District, killing four people and injuring at least 16 others.

Three people died on impact. Another died after being taken to Long An General Hospital for emergency treatment.

The injured victims were taken to the same hospital after the accident. Eleven of them were later transferred to the Chợ Rẫy Hospital in HCM City.

They all suffered from several severe injuries, including to the head, spine, leg and arm. 

Witnesses said the truck kept driving after hitting the first few motorbikes and dragged some for about 150m before stopping.

Further investigation into the incident is underway. — VNS
