Chinese tourist among two dead as boat capsizes

A Chinese tourist and Vietnamese tour guide drowned and a four-year-old boy is comatose after their boat capsized on Wednesday afternoon in Nha Trang Bay in central province of Khánh Hòa.

KHÁNH HÒA — A Chinese tourist and Vietnamese tour guide drowned and a four-year-old boy is comatose after their boat capsized on Wednesday afternoon in Nha Trang Bay in central province of Khánh Hòa.

The boy, of Chinese nationality, is undergoing intensive care at Vinmec Nha Trang Hospital.

Witnesses said the incident happened near Nha Trang Bay.

There were 20 Chinese tourists and three Vietnamese including the tour guide, a boat captain and a crewman aboard the vessel, according to an official from Nha Trang City People’s Committee.

The rest of those on the boat escaped the incident unscathed.

The province’s border guards and other boats operating nearby helped rescue the victims.

Local authorities are investigating the incident’s causes. — VNS
