HÒA BÌNH — The Ministry of Transport on Friday asked the Hòa Bình Province People’s Committee to immediately build a road leading to the bridge across the Rộc Stream to help local residents travel across the stream safely, especially during flood season.
The bridge, in Kim Tiến Commune, Kim Bôi District, was built by the Huy Hà Construction and Services Co Ltd with total investment of VNĐ15 billion (US$652,100) from State and local budget.
The bridge was completed in 2016. However, roads leading to the bridge have not yet been built, thus local residents still have had to walk across the stream for the past two years in dangerous conditions.
Quách Đình Vận, chairman of the Kim Tiến Commune People’s Committee, said that the bridge was very important because it connected the Bo Town and Kim Bôi District and would serve more than 1,000 households in Kim Tiến Commune. It would also promote the local tourism sector.
The construction was delayed because the district people’s committee lacked funds.
The committee expects that the bridge and roads will be complete by the end of this year, he said. — VNS
