HCM CITY — The HCM City Disability Research and Capacity Development (DRD) Centre raised funds of more than VNĐ500 million (US$21,443) for the Người Bạn Đồng Hành Scholarship for university students with disabilities who have financial difficulties.

The funds were raised via a music show on September 21 at District 1’s VOH Music One under the co-operation of VNG Corporation.

Singers, artists and people with disabilities attended the show, including Thủy Tiên Trịnh, Ngọc Mai, Hà Văn Đông, Phương Dung and others.

The scholarships for college and university attendance allowed recipients access to training in soft skills and teamwork. The students also have opportunities to meet others and become more confident while integrating into society.

Since 2008, when the fund was established, a total of 388 people have received scholarships that cover tuition for the entire length of study at either colleges or universities. —VNS
