HÀ NỘI — The 15th Hà Nội Open Maths Competition concluded successfully in the capital on Thursday evening.

This is the first time the competition saw the participation of foreign competitors.

Nearly 500 competitors from 23 provinces and cities across Việt Nam and nine foreign countries and territories joined the competition.

They were divided into groups A and B and vied with each other in mathematical skills for four days.

In group A, where foreign competitors participated, the competition organiser, Hà Nội Department of Education and Training (DOET), awarded 11 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 26 bronze medals.

In group B, the organiser awarded 48 gold medals, 90 silver medals and 134 bronze medals.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, director of Hà Nội DOET Chử Xuân Dũng said that the scale of the competition this year was larger and showed good results.

The competitors were not only creative and intelligent but were also self-motivated in the knowledge of maths and cultural exchange activities, he said, adding that it was both a regional and international competition.

The four-day challenge was a good memory for the students and gave them the opportunity to show their love for maths.

At the closing ceremony, DOET also launched the Hà Nội Open Maths Competition 2019. — VNS
