QUẢNG NAM  Chairman of central Quảng Nam Province People’s Committee Đinh Văn Thu on Monday morning decided to deactivate all job promotion decisions to Lê Phước Hoài Bảo – director of the province’s Planning and Investment Department.

Bảo is no longer a representative for the department participating in any council, steering committee or consultation group established by the province People’s Committee, according to another decision of Thu.

Bảo, born in 1985, graduated from Đà Nẵng Economics University with a degree in finance. He trained for a two-year master’s programme at Claremont Graduate University in the US in 2010, using State funds. After returning to Việt Nam, he led the investment promotion unit at the Chu Lai Economic Zone in Quảng Nam until March 2014.

He was then voted deputy chairman of Thăng Bình District People’s Committee. After a year, he became deputy head of the province’s Department of Planning and Investment. Six months later, in September, 2015, he was promoted to director of the province’s Planning and Investment department, making him the youngest person to hold the position.

Bảo is also known as a son of former Party Secretary of the province’s Party Committee, Lê Phước Thanh.

On February 13, the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board abolished Bảo’s Party membership.

In January, the Inspection Commission of the Communist Party of Việt Nam Central Committee, the Party’s top watchdog, found that Bảo had been dishonest about past working experience in his personal dossier and CV when he was nominated for a seat in the provincial Party Committee for the 2015-20 period. The Commission concluded that Bảo had poor sense of discipline and violated the Party’s regulations for not taking part in any Party activities for many months during his time studying abroad. VNS
