HCM CITY — Police here have busted a weapons-trading ring involving electric guns, scimitars and bayonets, which were being sold online in Việt Nam.
HCM City police had earlier arrested a dealer for providing a large amount of weapons in HCM City’s Củ Chi District.
Following months of investigation, police concluded that the head of the ring was PhạmThành Long, 34, and his wife Vũ Thị Diệp, 28, residents of Củ Chi District.
On Friday night, police conducted a raid at Long’s house and found a large quantity of weapons in the couple’s possession.
After conducting a search of the house, they seized 2,547 scimitars, bayonets and different types of knives, 700 electric guns and electric robes as well as hundreds of pepper sprays.
The couple admitted to the police they had been purchasing arms from an unidentified man named H since July last year.
They sold the arms online to avoid being detected by police.
The couple had created two accounts on Facebook to advertise and sell the “products” to those in need of arms.
Police are further investigating the case. — VNS
