HCM CITY — A drawing exhibition on safe vegetables opened on Wednesday in Hà Nội in an aim to promote the reliability of agricultural products in the northern region of Việt Nam.
Thirty posters displayed at AEON Mall Long Biên are among the winning entries of around 400 paintings from 10 primary schools across Hà Nội.
Titled “Safe Vegetables for a Brighter Future”, the drawing contest is part of the JICA-funded project for Improvement of Reliability of Safe Crop Production in the Northern Region.
The project aims to encourage safe vegetable consumption among urban consumers.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, one of the members of the winning group “4K-Colour” from Đặng Trần Côn primary school, said: “From now on we will ask our moms to buy safe vegetables to protect my families’ health.”
Đỗ Thị Thanh Hương, 37, of Cầu Giấy District, said: “Vegetables are very important for my two kids. I only buy from shops which sell certified agricultural products. That is my responsibility to protect my kids.”
Implemented in 2016, the five-year project (2016 - 2021) between JICA and the Vietnamese government aims to improve safety and reliability of agricultural products.
The project is expected to create a solid foundation for safe vegetable production in Việt Nam, according to JICA. — VNS
