HCM CITY – The HCM City Department of Transport put 18 new compressed natural gas-fuelled (CNG) buses into service on Monday in addition to 39 new diesel buses to replace old ones.

The 51-seat CNG buses have been deployed on route 45 (District 8–Bến Thành–Miền Đông Station) replacing old diesel buses.

Fifteen of the new diesel buses, all 40-seaters, are being used on route 70 (Tân Quy – Bến Súc), and the rest, slightly larger, are in use on route 59 (District 8–Ngã Tư Ga).

The existing buses were around 10 years old.
