ĐÀ NẴNG — South Korea plans to open a Consulate Office in Đà Nẵng City to boost tourism and investment.

The South Korean Ambassador to Việt Nam, Lee Hyuk, announced this at a meeting with the city’s leaders during a recent working visit to Đà Nẵng.

Korean tourists are the second largest segment of foreign tourist arrivals to Đà Nẵng. More than 430,000 arrived last year, nearly 20 per cent of total foreign travellers. At the same time, Korean investors poured US$244 million into 83 projects, the fourth biggest foreign investment in Đà Nẵng.

Both Vietnamese and Korean budget airlines have operated daily flights between Korean cities and Đà Nẵng since 2014.

T’way Air, a low-cost airline based in Seoul, has launched a new direct flight connecting Đà Nẵng and Daegu. This is the company’s third route between the two countries and is in addition to direct flights from Đà Nẵng to Pusan and Muan.

According to the city’s tourism department, there are 12 flights from Korea to Đà Nẵng every week, carrying an average of 1,500 passengers. — VNS
