The remaining were still undergoing special treatment at Vị Xuyên District’s General Hospital, he said.
The patients were among 60 people who attended the wedding party of a resident of Vị Xuyên District’s Thượng Sơn Commune on October 1.
They were taken to hospital hours after being served food and wine the family had prepared.
Three of the guests -- Lý Seo Hòa, 59; Vừ Seo Sử, 42; and Kháng Minh Pao, 47 -- died not long after suffering from headache, bellyache and vomiting.
The others also had similar symptoms.
Thuần said the department has urged the provincial Sub-department of Food Hygiene and Safety to work with the local authority and hospitals in Vị Xuyên District to ensure timely treatment for patients so that no more patients died of food poisoning.
The department has taken samples of the food to determine the cause of the food poisoning.
The Sub-department of Food Hygiene and Safety has sent a team of officers to provide medical check-up and treatment to those who were part of the wedding party. — VNS
