HCM CITY — Construction on a section of a Y-shaped flyover at Gò Vấp intersection, which connects Nguyễn Oanh and Phạm Ngũ Lão streets in HCM City, began on Wednesday, according to the city’s Department of Transport.
The total costs for the flyover in Gò Vấp District are VNĐ405 billion (US$17.8 million). Work on the main section of the flyover between Nguyễn Oanh and Nguyễn Kiệm streets was completed in January this year. However, construction on the section between Nguyễn Oanh and Phạm Ngũ Lão streets had been suspended due to a wait for compensation clearance.
The two-lane section, which will be 274m long and 6m wide, will have an improved drainage system, new lights and trees along the road.
The department’s Urban Transport Authority No 3 is expected to finish the work in 175 days.
The flyover at Gò Vấp intersection will be the seventh, and the second Y-shaped, flyover in the city.
The city has built six flyovers at traffic hotspots at Thủ Đức intersection, Hàng Xanh intersection, Lăng Cha Cả roundabout, Nguyễn Tri Phương–Lý Thái Tổ–3/2 intersection, Cộng Hòa–Hoàng Hoa Thám crossroads, and the first Y-shaped flyover at Cây Gõ roundabout. — VNS
