QUẢNG NGÃI — A fire occurred at 6am on Monday at two adjacent automobile tire shops, taking up a total area of 700sq.m in Nghĩa Hòa Commune, Tư Nghĩa District in the central province of Quảng Ngãi.
The fire caused losses of about VNĐ900 million (US$40,000).
No casualties were reported.
Hundreds of people joined to extinguish the fire, but they could not stop it due to strong winds.
As many as 120 fire prevention and control police were assigned to stamp out the fire.
It was one of the biggest fire in the province this year, said Colonel Lê Xuân Hưng, deputy director of the Quảng Ngãi Fire Prevention and Control Police Department.
The fire was stopped at 10am. The cause of the fire are under investigation.
In another development, seven fishing ships were partially damaged or totally damaged in a fire on Sunday night at the Tiên Châu Fishing Port in An Ninh Tây Commune, Tuy An District, the central province of Phú Yên.
Causes are under investigation.
