HÀ TĨNH — The Institute of Environmental Technology under the Việt Nam Academy of Science and Technology has taken samples from a 50-metre streak of reddish seawater that appeared in central Hà Tĩnh Province’s Sơn Dương Port last Friday for tests.
The move came after the local authority was informed about the appearance of the red streak in the port belonging to the Vũng Áng Economic Zone, said Võ Tá Đinh, director of the provincial Natural Resources and Environment Department, the Tuổi trẻ (Youth) online newspaper reported.
Previously, another reddish streak also appeared in the port on January 19. The results of the analysis conducted by the institute showed that the reddish water was caused by the phenomenon of jellyfish breeding. Additionally, waste discharged from the floating restaurants and houses nearby was also blamed for the red streak.
