HÀ NỘI — No fireworks will be burnt in HCM City on New Year’s Eve, which falls on Saturday.

The move came following a directive of the Political Bureau, and is aimed at utilising the money saved on poor and underprivileged households.

The city is organising several art performances to celebrate the New Year in Gia Định Park, Thanh Niên Cultural House, university dormitories and industrial processing zones.

The countdown event to New Year will take place on Nguyễn Huệ Pedestrian Street and the 3D light art show will be performed at the headquarter of the People’s Committee of the city.

The funds for these activities will be drawn from the local budget and mobilised from non-State sources. — VNS
