HÀ NỘI — The flyover at the Ô Đông Mác-Nguyễn Khoái crossroad in Hà Nội was opened to traffic this morning following seven months of construction.
The flyover spans a length of 232m and a width of 12m.
According to Vũ Văn Viện, director of the city’s transport department, total investment on the project was over VNĐ166 billion (US$7.4 million) sourced from the city’s budget.
A water drainage system and a lighting system was installed along with the flyover, in addition to planting trees and grass, to improve urban infrastructure and beauty.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Nguyễn Đức Chung, chairman of the municipal People’s Committee said Ô Đông Mác-Nguyễn Khoái is one of the largest traffic jam spots in Hà Nội, with high number of vehicles.
The flyover across the spot, one of the eight urgent transport projects of the city, was completed ahead of schedule. It links Ring Road No.1 and Đại Cồ Việt Street to provide a clear path and reduces traffic congestion, he said.— VNS
